The Power of a Photograph
Since its invention, the camera has been a powerful and disruptive tool. Photographs have the power to expose the undiscovered, spark overnight fame and even inspire revolutions. Today, with literally billions of photos being uploaded to social media every single day, photography is the most common and direct form of communication throughout the globe. Quality is more important than ever.
Why are pictures so powerful? In the time it takes your brain to process an image —13 milliseconds — a photograph can evoke an instantaneous physical and emotional response, like a change in heart rate, a smile, or the urge to click on a link and learn more. A photo can make you relive a wonderful memory, or instantaneously draw a conclusion about someone’s trustworthiness. You can skim over a blog post, swipe past a video and turn down the radio… but you can’t unsee an image. Pictures captivate us in a way that no other media can.

While we all love Montana for its natural beauty, there’s nothing like having a perfectly controlled indoor studio space when the weather won’t cooperate. My 440sqft studio is centrally located between Whitefish and Kalispell. With multiple backdrops and an arsenal of advanced lighting equipment to choose from, I’m always ready for a creative portrait session or a last-minute headshot. The comfortable setting area serves as a great meeting space for coffee and consultations and can double as a setting for lifestyle portraits. Even with perfect light and prime lenses, every picture requires an artist’s touch to achieve perfection.
At Picture Montana, I regularly research and invest in the most advanced editing software available so that your images exceed modern standards.
I have more than a decade of experience as a professional photographer and more than two decades of experience exploring the forests and rivers of the Flathead Valley. You won’t find anyone more in tune with local weather patterns, natural lighting opportunities and Montana culture. I know how to navigate any environment you might encounter in northwest Montana.
From crowded dive bars to luxury cabin escapes, spas, restaurants and big sky concert venues, I’ve seen (and shot) it all. I can recommend the best locations and best time of day to achieve any vision no matter the season. If you’re not sure exactly what your vision looks like, I can be your guide.
